Enchanting Filzalmsee Hochbrixen
Easily accessible in the immediate vicinity of the Hochbrixen mountain station, a fantastic alpine landscape with the idyllic Filzalmsee lake has been open to visitors since summer 2004.
A few minutes' walk from the Hochbrixen mountain station, directly at the foot of the Hohe Salve, hikers are presented with a fantastic alpine landscape at 1,300 m above sea level, at the centre of which has been a reservoir since 2003. With a water surface of 21,000 m², the Filzalmsee is one of the largest reservoirs in Austria. Already in the planning phase, it was taken into consideration that the lake should be a paradise for hikers, sportsmen, nature lovers and families during the summer months.
Attractions such as a biotope with viewing shafts for observing life under water, a wading area for children, a moor trekking pool, an adventure trail "foot sole", a beautiful circular hiking trail around the lake, a water giant, playground equipment and much more already delighted the numerous visitors to Filzalmsee last year.
But there is also a lot to discover in and around Hochbrixen. In the immediate vicinity of the Filzalmsee, for example, there is an ancient high moor with flora and fauna that is rarely seen.
Seminar hut on the alp
In the midst of a romantic alpine landscape and right next to the idyllic Filzalmsee lake, the "Filzalmsee Training and Seminar Hut" is located at around 1,300 m above sea level. A rustic hut ambience and modern seminar technology offer a unique setting for your events. Information and booking at the Tourist Office Brixen im Thale.
Hexenwasser Hochsöll
You follow the tracks of the witches on easy paths to the witches' stream and on to the witches' forest and the witches' water. The main attraction is the 450-metre-long "water trail" from the spring at Gasthof Hochsöll to the Stöcklalm. Thirty play, health and refreshment stations have been set up along the Hexenwasser, most of them dealing with the theme of water in different ways. Right at the beginning, a Kneipp basin invites you to take off your shoes and refresh your feet with cold mountain spring water. Playing, splashing and waterlogging children feel most at home at the climbing pond, the water wall path, the labyrinth and, of course, the witches' slides.
Along the Hexenbach you can dam up water, look for stones or observe life in the water with a magnifying glass. Where Hexenwasser and Hexenbach meet, the path winds upwards towards the Witches' Forest. The witch's cable car, the witch's floor and the Holzknechtssölle invite you to all kinds of adventures.
Another experience is the longest barefoot trail in Austria at the foot of the Hohe Salve - a special treat for your tired feet. At the top of the mountain, you can explore exciting topics such as the sun, the moon and the wind. Make Austria's only wind harp sing and discover the history of timekeeping at 12 stations. Special fun for the kids is the Salvenriese for climbing, sliding and playing.
Alpinolino Westendorf-Choralpe
Exciting adventures with the "Schlauberger
The little "smart aleck" of the Alpinolino welcomes the children at the top station of the cable car at the Talkaser and guides them through the exciting alpine landscape around the Choralpe, where many a tricky riddle is hidden.
Under the motto: play, explore and discover, numerous stations are installed along a 1.5 km long circular trail where you can test your sense of smell and touch, observe marmots, compete in the long jump or race, or even spy on the mountain peaks and various places with a telescope.
The Choralpe is also exciting for adults, as it is one of the most beautiful panoramic mountains in the Kitzbühel Alps and is richly endowed with scenic attractions. On a clear day, the Hohe Tauern with Großvenediger and Großglockner can be seen to the south and the Wilder Kaiser massif to the north.
From the Talkaser, you can also hike to the Brechhornhaus, near which you will find the "Kreuzjöchlsee", a beautiful and idyllic mountain lake.
KaiserWelt play park
KaiserWelt is a play park with everything a child's heart desires.
From Scheffau, take the gondola lift to the Brandstadl mountain station at 1,650m, where children and teenagers can let off steam to their heart's content. For the little ones, there are a few pedal cars available directly at the Brandstadl mountain restaurant. On a small knoll next to it you will find all kinds of toys, such as a trampoline, slides or a small cable car.
The large terrace of the mountain restaurant offers visitors the opportunity to relax and take in the impressive mountain scenery while enjoying Tyrolean home cooking or coffee and cake.
The heart of the Kaiserland in Scheffau is the "KAISERWALD". Here children and young people can indulge their thirst for adventure and uncover the countless secrets of the forest. In the course of their explorations, they will find large tree huts as headquarters or vantage points, a rotating tree hut, high stands, and lots of climbing and balancing equipment.
The Brandstadl mountain station is the starting point of wonderful hiking trails such as the "Kaiserweg" around the Brandstadl, the "Kaiser-Panoramaweg" to the Hartkaiser in Ellmau, the "Murmelweg" to the Jochstub'n with the Jochstub'n lake, where you can watch the hustle and bustle of the cute marmots from a viewing bench. Day hikes are possible to the "Filzalmsee" or the "Hexenwasser".
